Cooperative Services Expands to Serve More Central Indiana Families
New doors have been opened to Central Indiana families, thanks to the recent expansion of Grace Care Center’s Cooperative Services.
Also known as our “Co-op”, this service is dedicated to helping families and individuals move beyond crisis. Trained staff and dedicated volunteer coaches work alongside Care Center Friends to set and achieve goals that lead them towards stability and independence.
Until recently, the Co-op has been open to Care Center Friends on Tuesday evenings and Wednesday mornings. With the help of our donors, volunteers, and partners, we have officially added a Monday evening option!
For many Care Center Friends, evenings are the only time they can commit to building a more stable future. Life doesn’t pause for them during the day – jobs, kids, and more keep them busy.
By expanding the Co-op to include Monday evenings, we’re removing a barrier and opening the door for dozens more households to get the support they need to move forward.
No matter day or night, you’ll find people from all walks of life at the Co-op, sitting across from coaches and mentors who care. Young adults just trying to find their way. Working parents coming straight from their jobs. Widowed retirees ready to rebuild what comes next.
“More than once, I’ve heard someone say, ‘I’ve never had anyone help me think about my future like this,’” shares Grace Care Center Foundation Executive Director Cara Augspurger. “I’m thrilled that we’re now able to provide this level of support to more of our neighbors.”
The expanded Co-op was made possible in part by our recognition as the United Way of Central Indiana’s first Center for Working Families in Hamilton County. This designation honors our role in connecting individuals to stable jobs, financial coaching, and other critical supports, while strengthening the Co-op and empowering us to walk alongside even more families.
It’s because of our supporters and volunteers that care here doesn’t stop at the pantry door. We’re so grateful for all those who make it possible for us to work towards ending poverty in Central Indiana, one life at a time.
