More Than Volunteer Hours: Andrew’s Story
If you have visited Grace Care Center in the last four years, you’ve likely run into Andrew. Andrew is one of our dedicated volunteers who return, week after week, to form a community of support for our Care Center Friends.
When Andrew first started volunteering here, he wasn’t sure what to expect. He was about to enter his freshman year of high school and he was looking for ways to fulfill his volunteer hour requirement.
“But then, I found out that I really do love it,” Andrew said.
Andrew went on to become a regular volunteer at Grace Care Center, filling in wherever he was needed. He has stocked groceries, run carts, loaded vehicles, and so much more. No matter his role, Andrew has been a positive presence for all of our guests.
“I love helping people,” he said. “It really does bring me joy.”
Today, Andrew has recently graduated high school. He shared that he won’t soon forget the impact Grace Care Center has had on him.
“The people (we serve) truly do appreciate all that we do here. And it makes you think differently.”
While Andrew is moving to focus on the next step towards a career, he hopes to return to Grace Care Center as a volunteer whenever possible. And we can’t wait to have him back!
When Andrew was asked what he would say to a potential volunteer, he was quick to answer.
“I would definitely recommend here,” he said. “I might be a little biased! But It’s a great place. It’s really friendly.”
Congratulations on your graduation, Andrew! With your kindness and positivity, we’re sure you’ll do great things.
