Mobile Pantry Bringing Hope to Indianapolis

Randy was on his way to work this morning when he happened to see the Mobile Food Pantry. The timing couldn’t have been better. As a single dad to two teenage sons, he has been having a difficult time putting enough food on the table.

“Food is really tight for our family right now,” Randy shared. “I didn’t know what meals were going to look like over the next couple of days.”

So, Randy quickly got in line. Once inside the mobile pantry, he was able to choose groceries that make sense for him and his boys. On his way out, he expressed his gratitude to the volunteers staffing the pantry today.

But the story doesn’t end there!

Just a few minutes later, Randy came zooming back on his motor scooter…this time with his sister, Cassie, in tow!

Cassie went through the mobile pantry herself, making her own selections that will make it a bit easier to breathe this week.

“This takes a lot of stress off my plate, knowing that we have meals ahead of us this week,” Cassie said.

Cassie and Randy lost their mother recently and have both been dealing with grief on top of trying to make ends meet. They shared that they have recently found their faith and have been working hard to pull themselves up and make a better life for their families.

This trip to the Mobile Food Pantry brought them both something they were in need of…and not just groceries.

“This gives me hope,” Cassie shared. “What a blessing!” Randy chimed in, “There hasn’t been much to smile about lately. This makes me smile.”

Stories like this one are happening throughout the area today, with the Mobile Food Pantry making two stops sponsored by Eli Lilly.

In celebration of today’s Lilly Global Day of Service, Eli Lilly partnered with Grace Care Center to bring fresh food and produce to communities where they have been actively working to lower astronomical rates of diabetes. And volunteers from Grace Care Center and Eli Lilly are teaming up to make it happen!

Thank you, Eli Lilly, for partnering with us to bring food and hope to Indianapolis families.

And thank YOU, our incredible supporters, for making impactful stories like this one a reality.

You are truly making a difference by breaking down barriers for our friends and neighbors.
