The Heritage Classic Memorial Golf Tournament Takes on Food Insecurity

Foundation Executive Director Cara Augspurger and Foundation Board Member Sara Glenn celebrate Heritage Classic Foundation’s Memorial Golf Tournament.

Each year, the Heritage Classic Foundation hosts a Heritage Classic Memorial Golf Tournament. They aim to bring people of all ages and abilities together for a unique day of golf and fellowship while raising funds for various missions.

A portion of all funds raised at last month’s 28th annual tournament directly supported K-12 Food Rescue. We are thankful that this incredible organization made the decision to pass on this generosity to Grace Care Center in the form of a $2,000 donation!

This gift honors the work Grace Care Center does in partnership with K-12 Food Rescue.

Based in Noblesville, K-12 Food Rescue works with 700 schools and 200 restaurants around the country to minimize food waste. This is done by rescuing salvageable food items and diverting them to food pantries, where they can then be distributed to families experiencing food insecurity.

Grace Care Center is one of the food pantries that partners with K-12 Food Rescue on fulfilling their important mission in the Indianapolis area. Instead of sending food items to landfills, local schools and restaurants send them to our Choice Food Pantry.

This $2,000 gift will go directly towards keeping our shelves stocked with a variety of groceries and household goods. Our points-based system empowers every Care Center Friend to shop in our grocery store-style pantry, making selections based on their needs and lifestyle.

Thank you to Heritage Classic Foundation and all golf tournament attendees for your support! And thank you to K-12 Food Rescue for your continued partnership and all the work you’re doing to combat food waste and insecurity.
