Grace Care Center Volunteers Form a Community of Support

What do volunteers do at Grace Care Center?

How about what don’t they do?

Grace Care Center can only function with the help of the hundreds of volunteers who serve each week. Every volunteer is integral to our mission, whether stocking shelves, assisting in English class, or mentoring one of our families.

Beyond their tasks, however, is something more important: the community our volunteers form for our Care Center Friends.

Each guest who enters our doors looking for help is greeted with a smile. They are treated with kindness, dignity, and respect, and we give full credit to our volunteers for creating this welcoming atmosphere of support and love. 

A Care Center Friend recently shared, “Every volunteer that I’ve ever had has actually cared.” And that truly makes a difference.

Here’s where you’ll find volunteers throughout Grace Care Center:

• As Waiting Room Greeters, acting as that first welcoming face Friends see and answering any questions. 

• In the Choice Food Pantry or Mobile Food Pantry, shopping alongside a Care Center guest, checking out and bagging groceries, or loading groceries into vehicles.

• In the Thrift Store, sorting donations or working at the register.

• At Referral Services, mentoring a family through life challenges and moving them toward sustainability. 

• In English Classes, serving as teacher’s aids and providing encouragement to students.

• In the Care Center Warehouse, sorting and organizing goods for the Choice Food Pantry.

• At Vehicle Services, assisting with oil changes, tire rotations, and other minor routine vehicle maintenance services.

Volunteers also help pick up donated food throughout the week, serve at our events at various times of the year, and more!

Care Center Volunteer Don said, “I really appreciate that God wants to use us to help those who are in need. I often take for granted that I have what I need throughout the week.”
