Bearing Witness: Heather’s Unwavering Support of Care Center Friends
At heart, Heather is a kind, compassionate, and generous person. She has served in vocational ministry since 1985, and has dedicated her life to seizing opportunities that God provides.
Today, Heather shares her gifts by investing her time with Grace Care Center, while also pouring into students and young people through other local ministry opportunities.
Heather is also dedicated to financially supporting causes she cares deeply about – including the Grace Care Center Foundation. A few years ago, she joined the Care Center Collective, and has been a consistent monthly donor ever since.
Here, we're sharing Heather’s story of unwavering support, and how she bears witness the needs of our Care Center Friends every week.
Heather’s Story of Lasting Impact at Grace Care Center
Around 15 years ago, Heather and her family first started volunteering occasionally at the Care Center with her family. When needed, they packed diapers and prepared them to be distributed to Care Center Friends.
In 2020, Heather decided to become a regular volunteer in the Produce section of the Choice Food Pantry. Now, she serves in three different capacities!
Any given week, you’ll find Heather helping out through different Care Center services. On Tuesdays, she serves in the Co-op as a Life Mentor, meeting with Friends one-on-one to guide them through various challenges. Wednesday mornings are spent volunteering in the Pantry. And, on Friday mornings, Heather is still dedicating time to keeping our Pantry stocked with fresh, healthy items as part of the Produce Team.
What keeps Heather coming back is the community she has built with Care Center staff and volunteers, as well as the Care Center Friends we serve. She enjoys learning from and building relationships with others, as well as giving back to her neighbors in need.
In fact, it has been this time spent connecting with Care Center Friends and bearing witness to their stories that encouraged her to take her support even further as a monthly donor.
Why Heather Joined the Care Center Collective
As you can see, Heather has spent her life giving back. She felt called to further serve her neighbors in 2024, and joined the Care Center Collective.
Now, she’s continuously supporting Care Center Friends through automatic donations made month after month.
She recently answered a few questions about her “why” behind becoming a monthly donor.
What first inspired you to support the Grace Care Center?
“I have been volunteering with the Care Center for years, so I have had the privilege of meeting people and hearing their stories. I have been amazed at the needs of our friends here in Hamilton County and how each person’s story is unique. I can say from personal experience that the money we give monthly is being used well!”
What inspired you to become a monthly donor?
“In past years, our giving budget was filled with people we supported around the world. But when we saw how God was using the Care Center in people’s lives, we knew that we wanted to have a part of what God was doing locally! The option of coming on as monthly partners made it doable for our family.”
What would you say to someone who is considering becoming a monthly donor?
“The number of families using the Care Center has increased and will continue to do so. So, I would encourage you to volunteer in the Food Pantry once so you can see first hand how our Friends use and need all that the Grace Care Center has to offer! I’m guessing you will want to join us in supporting this amazing and needed ministry!”
